Thailand Proactively Prepare for AEC
Strategically Organize Symposium to Connect ASEAN+6
Ministry of Commerce, by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), is organizing a Symposium to bring together logistics experts from across ASEAN+6 who will discuss strategies to handle AEC. The event is aimed to connect the region’s economies and transfer knowledge that industrialists as well as logistics service providers can benefit from.
The DITP has scheduled to organize “ASEAN+6 Trade Logistics Connectivity Symposium 2015” under the theme of “ASEAN+6 Connectivity at the Crossroads: Progress and Future.” The conference will assist delegates in preparing for the ASEAN Economic Community or AEC which will take effect from January 1, 2016, onwards. The new era will allow for free physical movements of products and services. The Symposium will also prepare the industrialists for the establishment of ASEAN+6 or RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) that will combine the 10 ASEAN member countries together with Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, and New Zealand. The RCEP will play vial roles in driving the global economy in the future, with its combined population of 3.4 billion people which accounts for almost 40% of the world’s population and its combined GDP contributing 28% of the world’s GDP. It will have strong influences on trade and investment as well as logistics services in the ASEAN region and the world.
